This essay about INITIATION and secret society/mystery religions documents Francis Bacon’s methodology for the invention of modern Science, Freemasonry and the creation of the William Shakespeare cover story as author of the plays, in order to create the British Empire. It’s The Strangest Story Never Told. It’s a wild ride and evidence exists for all of it. What started me down this road was discovering the fact that Shakespeare was provably NOT THE REAL AUTHOR OF THE PLAYS. So why create such an elaborate hoax as the First Folio, believed to be the most influential secular book of all time? The hoax had to be connected to the historical malfeasance and malevolence of the English Empire. Connected they were - by British Intelligence, with which Bacon was heavily involved. It sounds crazy, but facts are facts. The claims made herein may seem outlandish, but the evidence that Bacon was the head of a group that wrote the Shakespeare plays is simply overwhelming. Bacon created a new form of Gnosticism: Scientism
INTRODUCTION: Gnosticism is an elitist and ancient religion, perfect for the hyper-elite British Royalty and gentry. Gnostics believe true gnosis is only achievable by the very few. Holding strong to a belief that the world is a prison, crafted by an evil demiurge as a way to entrap the human soul, Gnosticism leads to various types of antinomian behavior under the rubric of Dualism (the belief that Good and Evil are equal forces in the universe): typically, either by extreme rejection of the world or by extreme attempts to reform or conquer the world. These attempts must remain hidden because they are often criminal and largely opposed by the “nomian” majority. As such, techniques of veiling, subterfuge and occultation were highly prized and fully mastered by Bacon and his associates at the origins of British Intelligence. The philosopher Bacon’s terms for his occulted activities were ‘simulation and dissimulation’, the title of an essay from his famous book called Essays. Or, as Iago the anti-hero of Othello said, “I am not what I am”. To a Gnostic, an anti-hero is a hero.
Bacon’s most famous simulation of all was his creation of William Shakespeare, arguably the greatest writer of all time. But Freemasonry is just as important, in terms of empire, because as incredible as it sounds, Bacon also invented modern Freemasonry, a secret society devoted to keeping secrets, in the same manner as an the secretive ancient Mystery Schools of which The Tempest has proven to be an allegory. We also know that Bacon professed that he wrote for adepts, initiates and those already imbued with secret knowledge.
Tudor London of Bacon’s era was super-saturated with a culture of espionage unlike any ever known, largely due to it’s own history of usurpation of the Crown and the ongoing deadly burning-at-the-stake and hung-drawn-and-quartered action the battle of the Reformation created. The entire country was involved, everyone either a spy or the spied-upon, or both. To go overseas one was enrolled into the program, and you needed permission from the Queen to leave the country. Bacon and his brother Anthony were at the center of it all, born into the very elite of the Tudor power structure.
We mostly know Francis Bacon as the “father of modern science” but we learn, via the philosophical writing for which he is famous, that he was a Gnostic. We know of this Gnosticism for many reasons.
Bacon often used the phrase “confused matter” to describe the physical world, meaning that he felt that something was wrong with Creation, which is very much the core principle of Gnosticism. Not “world gone wrong” but “world made wrong by Creator on purpose”, which pretty much sums up the Gnostic sentiment. Bacon wrote “Ignorance is the curse of God, knowledge is the wing wherewith we fly to heaven”, a veritable Gnostic credo. (‘Gnostic’ comes from the Greek word gnosis, which means knowledge”) Bacon of course is most famous for his quip “knowledge is power’. In his celebrated book that kick-started modern Science, Novum Organum, Bacon wrote of the “empire of man”, that could “conquer the universe”. Francis Bacon was the world’s first mad scientist.
“But if a man endeavour to establish and extend the power and dominion of the human race itself over the universe, his ambition (if ambition it can be called) is without doubt both a more wholesome thing and a more noble than the other two.” [Spedding, Novum Organum, p 114]

This madness is pure modern Gnosticism and amounts to covert war, because if one wants to conquer the universe, it is a simple truism that one must first conquer the planet. Thus the British Empire became a necessity, a precursor to wresting the planet from the Creator.
This path forged by Bacon led him to create modern Science in such an effective way, using his Freemasons (as Robert Lomas, Freemason, details in his excellent book on the Royal Society) that eventually much of the world would unknowingly but slowly be turned into loyal members of the Gnostic Church Of Scientism. ‘Trust In Science’ has now replaced ‘Trust In God’. Bacon’s most famous work, his fable New Atlantis (1626) envisioned this reformation of the whole world, and it proves to be an astonishing prophecy of today’s technocracy and it is rumored to be technocrat Peter Thiel’s favorite book. Incredibly, this path to a science-soaked world included a push from the Shakespeare plays and poems, as will be discussed below. Gnosticism and Freemasonry are shot thru the Shakespeare plays. Here’s one example from Hamlet:
“Denmark’s a prison…A goodly one; in which there are many confines, wards and dungeons, Denmark being one o' the worst.”

The British Empire was Bacon’s vision of the his Rosicrucian’s stated goal: the reformation of the whole world. “Reformation of the whole world” is the very first sentence of the first Rosicrucian Manifesto, the Fama Fraternitatus, understood by many to have been written by Bacon, and in another act of occultation, published in German and first released anonymously by his German associates, most likely led by alchemist Michael Maier who had spent five years in England with alchemist Bacon. The Fama soon made a profound impact all over Europe and it represents the first appearance of transhumanism in history. Rosicrucians are largely regarded as proto-Freemasons.
The glue of the British Empire is Freemasonry and Shakespeare. The earliest modern Freemasonic symbols are found in Shakespeare and in Bacon’s writing on Science. In my next piece I will be presenting this evidence in detail.
It is hard to believe that one person could have accomplished so much (Bacon, later in life was also a prominent lawyer, serving as Attorney General and a privy Council statesman as well, rising to becoming Lord Chancellor, even serving for a time as Regent!
As a boy Bacon received the best education imaginable embedded in a culture of British nobility that greatly prized education; he had access to large libraries and he was extraordinarily precocious. (See The Mystery Of Francis Bacon by. WT Smedley pg 21) The documentation of his early life remains spotty (besides the years 15-22 when he was in college, then in Paris as a spy-diplomatic attaché and then law school ages 18-21.) From the ages of 22-45 he purposefully kept on the down-low. He was a spy, hello. For known employment he was involved only in the very modest Parliament of his day that sat for a couple weeks a year. He did not yet practice law. These 20-odd years from 1583 to 1605 are the exact years that most of the Shakespeare plays were written. The best biography of Bacon as Shakespeare is by William Smedley, mentioned above, an American artist who eventually acquired 1,500 of Bacon’s books that are kept now at the Folger Library.
It is known that Bacon kept a stable of writers at an estate called Twyckenham Park, a gift from Queen Elizabeth, to whom he served during that time, in an unpaid position as “counselor extraordinaire”, which is almost his only other known employment until he was in his 40’s, besides minor posts at his law school Gray’s Inn, where the first known performance of Shakespeare occured in 1594. His uncle was the super-powerful Secretary of State William Cecil, Lord Burleigh. It was a part of very early British Intelligence. Here the Shakespeare Project was conceived and it became a group effort that went right to the very top of Elizabethan London. Theater hanger-on, William Shakespeare of Stratford would prove to be capable front man. Not-so Good Queen Bess definitely knew what was going on.
British exceptionalism and nationalism was inspired and magnified by the Shakespeare Myth and plays, the rags to riches commoner turned greatest-ever-dramatic and poetic genius, who came to London from nowhere-the-Midlands, from the miserable backwater Stratford-Upon-Avon. This effort would prove, as mentioned, to grow into the “mother of all hoaxes” later propagated by the fraternity of Freemasons who, able to read the esoteric symbolism encoded in the plays, and as fraternity brothers bound by blood oaths, would be obligated to spread the plays and their message world wide. So they did and so do they still.
British exceptionalism does not believe in the Christian-inspired idea of a human family of equals, living together under Natural Law. Quite the contrary. Antinomian Gnostics scorn the law, though they enjoy making and using them against us lesser beings. Freemasons consider all non-Freemasons to be 'profane'. As evidence Shakespeare is always crass about commoners in the plays, just sayin’. Francis you see, was “born in the purple”, next door to the Queen herself. Rumors were strong even then that he was the secret son of the Virgin Queen.

Two streams of Gnosticism infected Bacon’s genius which he forged into the new religion of Scientism. Mithraism is the oldest stream. Mithraism, is a “mystery religion” and to join it one would have to partake in a series of difficult initiations. The cult originated in ancient Rome with some symbolic influences from the Dualist Zoroastrianism, and was very popular with the Roman military and merchant classes as Freemasnry proved to be. Mithraneum’s have been found all over Europe and England. One was recently found and restored in London. Mithra was a sun god. We will return to Mithraism shortly.

The second Gnostic stream informing Freemasonry was from the Knights Templar, another militaristic initiatory organization, which will be touched on only peripherally for now. More on them here. As the initiations of Mithra were secret, so too Bacon concealed secret meanings and messages in his writing, calling his enigmatical writing the “acroamatic method”, even admitting to doing so in another famous book on science of his called De Augmentis Scientiarium 1623, (The Advancement Of Learning) published the same year as his (his and Ben Johnson’s) previously mentioned First Folio.

The Tempest: Shakespeare as Initiation
Shakespeare’s play The Tempest is actually an allegory of initiation into a mystery school based on the Eleusinian Mysteries. Colin Still painstakingly details all the embedded clues in his remarkable“Shakespeare’s Mystery Play: A Study Of The Tempest”, published in 1923. Still's shocking theory influenced ‘poet of the century’ T.S. Eliot and a few other heavy hitters but was generally ignored.
The Tempest is the first play in the First Folio, where Bacon and Ben Johnson compiled of 36 Shakespeare plays in 1623. The play is itself an initiation while it allegorizes initiation. Today every single college in America has a professor of Shakespeare studies, with some schools offering a PhD in Shakespeare! Millions of books have been written about the plays. Almost all American high school children are forced to read Shakespeare. In effect, we have all been initiated…into Shakespeare, producing the Shakespeare effect- a multi-layered imprinting and receptivity to the molding on a group level the unconscious of a nation.

Simultaneous with Shakespeare, Bacon set in motion the tidal wave of modern science, of which the impact on the world is impossible to overstate. Bacon is seen by historians as a starting point to the Age Of Enlightenment, because of his advocacy for scientia, Latin for ‘knowledge’ or the Greek ‘gnosis’. The celebrated historian Peter Gay, in his classic two-part The Enlightenment calls Bacon “the patron saint of the enlightenment.” This is because Bacon (who liked to be called by his gentry name Lord Verulam, Viscount St. Alban), directly inspired the world’s first scientific body, formed in London, The Royal Society, many of whom were Freemasons.
The name “Age of Enlightenment” comes directly from the religion of Freemasonry. Freemason’s call themselves “Sons Of Light”. They promise Enlightenment to their initiates. The Enlightenment Room (Room #1!) of the British Museum is a massive monument to men obeying Bacon’s call to Science, data gathering and the use of inductive reason to analyze it. Thus, an astonishing number of books full of observations were written, and along with crates of artifacts that were brought back to London from every single corner of the globe that now fill that massive Room #1 at the British Museum. But you won’t find Bacon, nor a single mention of Freemasonry, because the Hidden Life is Best. You will find however, two life sized sculptures of Mithra the Sund god of Light. And not to worry, the massive United Grand Lodge Of England, nerve center of global Freemasonry is just a 10 minute walk down Drury Lane to Great Queen Street

Professor Harry Levin states in Bacon’s Poetics “…[Bacon’s] overwhelming symbol is the primordial image of light...". Bacon constantly referenced “light’ in all of his writings, including of course, Shakespeare. From New Atlantis, the book that prophesied technocracy:
"For several of our fellows sail into foreign countries, under the names of other nations, for our own we conceal, who bring us patterns of experiments of all other parts. These we call merchants of light.”

The British Empire in it’s present form is clearly powerful and influential globally: England established the state of Israel- and secretly supports it more than any other nation. Without England’s constant support Israel would certainly not have anywhere near the power it enjoys. This is purely geo-political strategy on the part of the British elite and building the Temple of Solomon is a primary symbol in Freemasonry.
The English Empire has been gunning for Russia for at least 200 years and is the main force for the current NATO war. The US war machine supplies the materiél. No longer the British Empire it is the Anglo-American Empire. This current theater of War is shaping up to be Empire’s first loss in many decades, after a spectacular run through a successful (for England) WW1 and WW2. Russia refuses to collapse, a seious blow to Empire’s agenda.
Front and Center Is Scientism
Empire’s most important battle and Empire’s true crusade is in carrying the banner of propaganda for the religion of Scientism, the faith-based belief in Science. Scientism believes that science can differentiate right from wrong and solve all of humanity’s problems, while being truly knowable only to high priests- the scientists and their journalist propagandists; the belief that the methods of natural sciences should be used for philosophy, the humanities, and the social sciences. Scientism is a ‘humanitarian’ cover for tyranny as we saw with evil covid lockdowns as well as the dark propaganda of “Carbon footprints” from the sciencey-based, fear-based global warming hoax that so many fall for because they have become one of those unconscious members of the Church Of Scientism. It’s the Shakespeare Effect if you will. Scientism = Tyranny.
Shakespeare and Science are connected: Science is Fortinbras. Hamlet gave Fortinbras the keys to the kingdom at the end of Hamlet with his “dying voice”, in the scene that ends the world’s most famous play. (Fortinbras means ‘Strongarm’). All the Shakespeare plays leave you feeling uncertain, increasing the compulsion to turn to the “strong arm” of Science and compulsively accept and create the technocratic government as illustrated in New Atlantis, Bacon’s ultimate global goal, from whence to dominate the universe. All the plays are anti-populist and support monarchy and strong man politics. This is actually the newest standard understanding by Shakespeare scholars. The plays are Machiavelli by subterfuge. They implant a sense of dread that instinctively sends one craving strong arm leadership. (This will be a separate essay where I will illustrate this idea via an examination of the plays. See Macbeth and Romeo and Juliet and Hamlet at thehiddenlifeisbest.com) The modern ‘strongarm’ is now become Science, because of the ingrained belief proferred by what can surely be described as theater that Science itself is somehow “enlightened”, is somehow Truth. The most modern of Myths. It is not. It is just one method of seeing the world.

Understanding the truth about the source of the British Empire requires a a new view of human potential, a rewriting of recent world history with an awareness of the illusionist and hidden methodologies used to create it. Bacon was always cryptic, always writing in code, always, as he himself admitted, writing for adepts and initiates.
Shakespeare, no exception, is full of coded messages: Macbeth is not a story of oversized ambition, it’s the story of a mind controlled assassin creating chaos, making the English army the hero of the play, creating order out of the chaos all begun by “intelligencers’ as the witches were called. HUH? Where have we seen that before. Is it not instead an illustration of a technique for Empire extension? “Fair is foul and foul is fair” as preached by the intelligencer “Wyrd sisters” that starts the play is a literally another core principle of Gnosticism.
Think Othello also as a conspirator’s handbook: Iago designs a conspiracy to create a power vacuum by turning “virtue into pitch”. It not about Othello’s race. It’s about power lust and repressed homosexuality and demonic possession. Chaos ensues and Iago nearly does take the helm of the army. He easily could have. He came this close (holds up two fingers
In Romeo and Juliet, Friar, the Catholic priest scientist/alchemist in Machiavellian Verona ruled by, you got it, the Prince, precipitates a double suicide/human sacrifice that brings peace to Verona and results in a literal golden statue of Juliet, a detail artfully hidden but fully present at the end of the play. Got social alchemy via ancient human sacrifice? It’s actually a horror story of social alchemy horor, with very little romance and way more lust than love. One has to go through the play scene by scene but once seen it can’t be unseen. It’s a popular play on Valentines Day. There’s a deep element of mockery in the Dark Bard.
Think chaos agent, demon-possessed Hamlet, handing the reins of the kingdom to Fortinbras, or “strong arm”. Think power achieved via deception and chaos. The similarities between Macbeth and Hamlet are many. Prospero achieves complete and total control of everyone on the island with a tremendous magical power that remains unseen by anyone else. He is the hierophant of initiation and the head technocrat. His powers could and will all be proferred by science. Meanwhile the play is also an allegory of colonization and imperialism. I did mention the writing on 3 or 4 levels at once. Incredibly, it’s always there.
It’s Not The Enlightenment
This is a tough story to hear. It’s enormous, convoluted and painful. Finding Shakespeare and Science to be part of an antinomian Gnostic religion is like finding that while you grew up, your father molested your sister in the bedroom next to yours.
Shakespeare Gets In Your Head
Science is a two-faced friend, notthe saviour we have unawares been led to believe in, as in “Trust the Science, Science Will Win!”. We must all become aware of the false claims of bad science. We must become science-literate, and expose the hidden narratives and sinister powers science avails to the elites: surveillance, censorship, false health claims for power, tools of war and thought control. “Knowledge is Power” is Bacon’s most famous quote. And fake knowledge expertly propagandized, by the very theatrical Science of lying, the very heart of espionag,e and Bacon’s specialty becomes real power if we buy into it. This world will fully become Baron Verulam’s New Atlantis if we don’t get hip to the fake Science. Trust me, you don’t want to live there.

Secret Initiation: Mithras and Eleusis
The great struggle of politics is the battle between the Elite and The Commons, between tyranny and liberty. Mithraism and the Gnostics take the side of the elite, while the Mysteries of Eleusis took the side of the commons.
SECRET INITIATION is the key to Freemasonry and to understand it we have to go back to the ancient mystery schools, which are influences on Freemasonry as even Freemasonry claims. In typical Gnostic fashion, Masonry has many, many influences. Let’s look at the two most important and influential Mystery schools and their initiations - that of Mithra and that of Eleusis- both of which contribute to “the Craft’s” esoteric symbolism, occult doctrines and great success, and see how they compare to Bacon’s Freemasonry.
Initiation originated in the distant past and exists in all societies, throughout all of history. Initiation aims to mold an individual into a functioning member of a particular society. There are many different types of initiation. Often done at puberty, with contemporary examples being Confirmation in the Catholic church and Bar-Mitsva for Jews, both of which are not done in secret. College Fraternity and Sororities hold initiations of a different sort. Initiation is a big topic which will be far from fully discussed here.
Initiation is a form of mind control, which is not always entirely a bad thing.
We find crucial distinctions between Mithraism (really a religion rather than simply a mystery school) and the Eleusinian mysteries, and those distinctions exist in their initiations.
In Athens, at Eleusis, women and commoners were allowed to participate in the Mysteries. Each person was initiated only once, at the same time and along with large numbers of others in ceremonies that were semi-public. Mithraism, in contrast, widespread throughout the Roman Empire, was for men only. The initiations were multi-leveled and ongoing, and completely hidden, taking place in caves and caverns, exactly as in Freemasonry, multi-leveled ongoing initiations in lodges that have no windows. In the cult of Mithra one would be initiated many times, moving up the ladder, and be a participate in the initiations of others many many times, the same as Freemasonry. In other words, the mind control was constantly reinforced. This was not the case at Eleusis.
Mithraism was created by the Roman elite, closely connected to the military and the merchant class exactly as was Freemasonry originally. It’s primary symbolism is Sun worship and light, the same as Freemasonry and Francis Bacon. Archeological evidence found in Mithraneaums suggests human sacrifice occurred. [Buckert]. The peak initiation in Mithraism was the sacrifice of a bull, the blood of the bull would pour down over a single initiate. Eleusis, in good contrast, is earth centered, female centered, and associated with rebirth and reunion with no evidence of human sacrifice ever found. There was one bull sacrificed publicly to end the mass initiation as part of a huge public festival.
Eleusis, by the way was connected to an unprecedented epoch of beauty in art, philosophy, music, medicine and political freedom.
The very name ‘mystery’ comes from Mystai, the Greek word for high initiate.
Mithraism was widespread in England because of the Roman Army and a Mithraneaum has been found in central London that has been recently restored. They have even recreated what they think a ceremony there might have been like. Hmmm….
I have found evidence that the Eleusinian Mysteries, dedicated to Demeter and Persephone and beloved of Aeschylus, Plato, Cicero, and Marcus Aurelius, became corrupted by Gnosticism, specifically the Gnosticism of the Mithraic variety.
Initiation Can Be Positive
About the Eleusinian Mysteries, Roman senator Cicero, legendary defender of the Roman Republic against dictatorship, wrote this:
“For among the many excellent and indeed divine institutions which your Athens has brought forth and contributed to human life, none, in my opinion, is better than those mysteries.

“For by their means we have been brought out of our barbarous and savage mode of life and educated and refined to a state of civilization; and as the rites are called ‘initiations,’ so in very truth we have learned from them the beginnings of life, and have gained the power not only to live happily, but also to die with a better hope.” (Cicero, Laws II, xiv, 36)
The mysteries of Eleusis contributed to the making of the unprecedented golden age of Greece with the outpouring if not the origin of philosophy, new areas of mathematics, democracy, epic poetry, medicine as a teachable art form, public theater, music theory, athletics (The Olympics), extraordinary architecture and astonishing sculpture and Science. The Eleusinian Mysteries were highly influential in forming Christianity and highly influential to today’s Hellenized Judaism, all via the influence of Greek philosophy which was highly influenced by Eleusis. Greek “logos’ became Christian “Logos” or Christ. The overall influence of Eleusis must be seen as a key contributor to Christianity.

The antithesis of Eleusis was the mystery school of Mithras. Beyond a personal sense of salvation for the individual the benefits of Mithraism went to the power elite. To Empire. Mithraism was Gnostic. Eleusis was not.

Gnosticism sounds so crazy that it can’t possibly be real, yet it is the source of Bacon’s outsized inspiration and enormous ambition. Gnosticism is enjoying a hipster resurgence, as seen in many movies (Truman Show, The Matrix, etc etc) video games and blogs. Gnosticism has been sugar-coated by books like Elaine Pagel’s famous The Gnostic Gospels.
Gnostic ideas align well with fashionable thoughts about the world as a simulation, or as a parallel universe, or as an entirely fabricated, elaborate conspiracy. Gnosticism teaches that a human being can become God. I think that’s what happened to Baron Verulam.
Modern Gnosticism creates the mad-scientists. Bacon and his new form of Gnosticism made the ancient Gnostic religious sects more than goofy but sinister piles of creation stories and magic rituals. Instead of the classic gnostic myth of the the human light-soul (the only good thing on Earth) escaping at death past gatekeeper archons, using secret Gnostic passwords (the gnosis!) as given by Serpent Jesus, so not to be reincarnated back here on Earth, Bacon created a Gnosticism of Science, where one could escape death and stay here on Earth. He hatched a plan to wrest the planet away from the evil demiurge, with Rosicrucian transhumanism.
Bacon’s Science is the new El Dorado, and he’s got millions of believers looking for it, just as his pal Sir Walter Raleigh did, sailing off to the Azores, looking for the City Of Gold and the Fountain Of Youth.
Some scholars consider Gnosticism to be at it’s root an attempt to understand the philosophical “problem of evil”. The thinking of a Gnostic goes like this: ‘If there is evil in the world then the creator must be evil’. It’s that inane but it does lead to fantastical creation myths of a jealous Sophia creating an evil Ialdobaoth that resulted in all the evil matter of the world. So Put The Blame On Mame boys.
It’s a brain numbing scripture, a “bury them in bullshit” form of sophistry and rhetoric of the world as a prison- by design.
Gnosticism represents a major rupture in the timeline of and the history of world religions. Some scholars equate Gnosticism’s emergence 2000 years ago with Jewish anger and disaffection resulting from the Roman destruction of the Temple of Solomon in 70 AD. No coincidence that symbolic construction of the Temple is central to Freemasonry. It’s no longer however, a Temple to God, it’s a Temple to Man. A slight difference. It’s a Gnostic inversion. This fact is hidden to most Freemasons who are decent good people. That’s how good the Bacon is. Look at how many have been fooled by his Romeo and Juliet!
